Porsche Race Car Donation and Purchase Supports WOT
By Jim Weidenbaum | SCCA Foundation Board of Directors

“Pam’s generous donation – and Ralph’s offer – will help fund the continued growth of the Women on Track scholarships and mentorship programs that are helping to lower the barriers to entry to SCCA racing in all forms.”
UPDATE
Congratulations to Texas Region member, Ralph (Bert) Siebert, who successfully bid for a 1998 Porsche Spec Boxster donated to the SCCA Foundation by Pam Susslin.
Susslin is an adventurer and a competitor, but more than that she is a generous and gracious individual, especially thankful for those who have helped open doors for women race car drivers. When not pushing herself summiting a mountain, skiing down a slalom course, or racing down a single-track bike trail, Pam loved nothing better than racing her 1998 Porsche Spec Boxster. Though not an SCCA member, she was so impressed by SCCA’s Women on Track program she looked further into the SCCA Foundation where she also discovered outstanding programs such as Tire Rack Street Survival for teen drivers. When a chronic vision condition recently ended her ability to continue competitive motorsports, she generously donated her race car to the SCCA Foundation to be used as a fundraiser.
The Foundation listed the car for sale on our website and received several expression of interest. Siebert’s generous offer of $24,000 was accepted by the Foundation Board of Directors, and goes directly to the SCCA Foundation.
Bert is a long-time SCCA member, Texas Region Tech Chief and a national Club Racer for 10 years. We are so excited to see Bert in this race car as he’s a “super volunteer,” having served as Texas Region RE, Treasurer, ARE Race, and more.
He flew out to California to make a personal final inspection, and since getting the car back to Texas, he’s gotten an SCCA logbook issued, updated safety equipment, including new seat and harness, as well as adding SCCA-compliant lettering & decals. As Bert looked into the specifics of this car’s build, he found it best fits into SCCA Touring 4 competition.
Bert has already done an SCCA track day, where he found the car nicely balanced despite driving on 3-year-old tires (aka rolling rocks). He plans to beat the heat in the aptly named “Sunburn Grand Prix Majors” race in Eagles Canyon at the end of August.
Thank you, Bert, for your generous purchase and your continued support of the SCCA and SCCA Foundation. Good Luck & Good Racing!
“Pam’s generous donation – and Ralph’s purchase of the car – will help fund the continued growth of the Women on Track scholarships and mentorship programs that are helping to lower the barriers to entry to SCCA racing in all forms,” said SCCA Foundation Chair Jeff Jacobs. “And the added financial support for teen driver education through the Tirerack Street Survival program comes just in time for the launch of our 2025 schools across the country.”
The Foundation also thanks Tom Berry for assistance picking up the car when it was donated, and to Wilwood Brakes for safely storing the car in California for us for several months.
