Women on Track

This SCCA initiative looks to the future, working to promote and encourage women to have #FunWithCars. Through regional efforts, mentorship, national contingency, and scholarships, this program aims to remove barriers to entry for women in motorsport and to encourage increased participation.

The SCCA Foundation is contributing to the Women on Track initiative by managing the Wendi Allen Scholarship Fund.

Win the SCCA Silver Wire Wheel Pendant Sweepstakes

The SCCA is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year and no symbol is more iconic in representing the club over that history than the SCCA Wire Wheel Logo. The SCCA Foundation is excited to announce that we have been gifted a SILVER version of the SCCA Wire Wheel Logo Pendant to give away in a second sweepstakes benefitting the Women on Track program!

100% of the proceeds from this sweepstakes will support the SCCA Foundation's Women On Track program.

Wendi Allen Scholarship Fund

The Wendi Allen Scholarship Fund awards funding to encourage women from the general public as well as SCCA’s Solo community to become more successful drivers and contributing members of the SCCA at a Regional, Divisional, and National level. Named and established by the family of Wendi Allen, the scholarship honors the multi-time Solo National Champion who loved and supported SCCA’s autocross community. The Scholarships are now funded primarily through the SCCA Foundation.

Historically the award has been made to three women each year, with two funded by the SCCA Foundation and one funded by Mazda earmarked for a female driver of a Mazda product. The amount of the cash award and the number of awardees may be changed from year-to-year with the advance consent of the SCCA Foundation.

The core award for Foundation scholarship recipients is a grant of $1,500 for each awardee which is to be used to offset travel and other expenses incurred to attend Tire Rack National Solo events during the year. In addition, the SCCA has been waiving entry fees to Tire Rack National Solo events for the award winners.

The award winners will also be connected with a mentor to assist in development as a driver and club leader. The Foundation may also supply decals, shirts, or other promotional materials in support of the award recipients.

  • Winners of the award are based on two basic criteria: The selected drivers will have displayed a certain level of success and skill behind the wheel; and winners will also be very involved in the Solo Community in leadership positions at a Region level or in other ways that give back to the Solo community.

  • The members of the Selection Committee are past National Solo Champions, past recipients of the scholarship, and/or other drivers of distinction in Solo. The committee is tasked with seeking out nominees, considering the merits of those nominated, and making a final selection.

Women of Speed in the SCCA Archives

In this video, IMRRC Archivist Jenny Ambrose talks about the history of women in the SCCA as reflected in the records of the SCCA Archives. It depicts women behind the wheel, and behind the scenes and serves as a documenting of women drivers, as well as the roll women have played in organizing races, overseeing timing and scoring, improving safety, and documenting the sport.
