SCCA Legacy Stories
The mission of SCCA Legacy Stories is to preserve and share the history of our Club in order to build connection, insight, and understanding of SCCA’s beginnings, development, challenges and solutions for the benefit of future generations.
The SCCA Foundation is launching a long-term project to capture the stories of the broadest representation of our Club possible.

The SCCA Foundation is an important part of the SCCA and continues its mission, often quietly and behind the scenes, by creating and supporting projects which provide inclusive opportunities for motorsports competition, safety, education, and historical preservation.
We are so happy to launch a project directly supporting our long and proud SCCA history through Legacy Stories. This new initiative is being launched in appreciation of all of our SCCA family: the volunteers, the workers, the drivers and crew and the many people whose stories have never been shared about how they contributed to the growth, development, and evolution of our Club.
We often talk to an SCCA member and walk away realizing the history that person holds in their heart and the love they have for the sport. As time passes, those stories are often lost to those younger and up and coming SCCA members.
The SCCA Foundation Legacy Stories Project is being established to capture those stories of how our Club was built and continues to evolve. As we do with our own families, we enjoy the stories passed on from one generation to another. We are reaching out to you to ask to share stories that reflect the history of any aspect of the SCCA’s development be it how and why a race class was launched, how an official or worker position has evolved, possibly how a race program or event was first established or reimagined to stay relevant … the list of amazing stories is endless, truly anything that helped build or support our Club or its members.
All we ask, to start, is that you use the SCCA Foundation Legacy Stories submission form below to provide us with some basic information about your story. As we pull stories together along a cohesive theme or topic, we may reach out to gain further details and any supporting photos or material.
The SCCA Foundation Legacy Project is the start of a living history that will be recorded, shared, and remain forever part of the SCCA family. We look forward to hearing from you and beginning this journey together.
Curating your stories
GETTING STARTED
So, how to begin this endeavor? Many of us have stared at a bunch of boxes of parts knowing we had to start somewhere to make a racecar out of them. So, here’s how we’re going to begin our assembly >>
TELL YOUR STORIES
Using the form below, outline your story for us. We will select some submissions to follow-up on with an e-mail, phone call, or web-interview. For a few high-profile areas we will move from capturing iPhone or Zoom videos to professional production. We expect most of these audio and video recordings to be between five and 15 minutes long.
SUPPORTING MATERIALS
Depending on the topic, we will work with the IMRRC for support material and/or look to those being interviewed to share any photos, articles or notes they may have. We are more interested in why things happened than capturing the what. For example, why was there interest in developing Spec Renault versus details on development of specific rules sets?
