Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 8:07 PM Eastern Time.
A motion was made by Bob, seconded by Howard to approve the October meeting minutes. Motion passed. The minutes for October will be forwarded to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Jeff Dahnert indicated that month end for November will be ready next week and he will share with the SCCA Foundation board at that time. Other expenditures were discussed. A motion was made by Howard, seconded by Tere to approve the report. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Executive Committee
Budget for 2024 is due by October 31, using 2023 budget numbers as a starting point for the committees.
Discussion took place during the meeting
LMS and the Region Grant Program are relatively new program with SCCA and both are important to continue funding through the SCCA Foundation.
Jeff will contact Chris Robbins regarding the LMS program.
Could we charge other sanctioning bodies to use the LMS for licensing for their workers?
Sweepstakes for the simulator has been launched.
Tere brought up the idea to raffle an SCCA wheel pendant, with the proceeds specifically going toward the Women On Track program. Jeff indicated that we can get a raffle for that set up.
Divisional meeting for 2024 have been scheduled
5 meeting are in person meetings, 1 meeting is virtual
Encourage SCCA Foundation members to attend those meetings that are in their area
10-15 minutes presentation could be made at these meetings regarding the Foundation
National Convention is virtual again in 2024.
January 18-26, 2024
SCCA Foundation has time slots for programs.
The video from 2023 regarding the IMRRC will be used again at the 2024 convention.
Arnie has asked that all presentations be forwarded to him prior to 1-11-24. Arnie will set up all Zoom meetings for Foundation presentations and will forward to the appropriate presenters.
Tire Rack Street Survival
Melanie reported on the status of the program for 2023.
A total of 58 schools took place with 19 of those 58 hosted by SCCA Regions.
That total for SCCA Regions is up from 2022.
2 SCCA schools were cancelled due to site issues
Average was 21.1 students, 378 SCCA students
Record number of sold-out schools
Waiting on an audit for one school
BMW CCA is current on their financial obligation to SCCA and SCCA Regions
A fee increase to $125 has been requested by Bill Wade
5 Regions were able to take advantage of a reduction in sanction fees for a Solo held the next day at a TRSS site.
There are schools scheduled for 2024 on the calendar, with a couple of those being first time schools.
Discussed the minor waiver situation that continues to be an issue.
Brian Ghidinelli with MotorsportsReg suggested using the SpeedWaiver that is available through SCCA. Melanie will do some checking on that possibility
SCCA has paid for several schools and is waiting for reimbursement from BMW.
Fundraising Committee
Donations to the Foundation continue to come in
The sweepstakes raffle for the Ultimate Sim Racing Rig have opened
An email has been sent to prior sweepstakes participants regarding the 2024 sweepstakes.
Facebook ad campaign is being launched using a vendor recommended by Tapkat and used by the IMRRC.
Communications Committee
Jim will continue with website and Facebook articles
Will contact Brian Bielanski regarding his podcasts and add to our digital history.
Podcasts are on the SCCA website.
Jim has also requested pictures be forwarded to him to add to the website.
Archives
Still no replacement for Jenny Ambrose at the IMRRC.
All driver files will be complete in the fall/winter of 2024
The IMRRC received a grant from a supporter to purchase cabinets to store video, etc. in a climate-controlled space.
The number of requests from SCCA members looking for information was 83 requests from August-November
Capital campaign for the new IMRRC location has not started yet.
Warehouse in Montour Falls will be improved for storage and working conditions
Bob asked that the Foundation board consider revising the funds sent to the IMRRC for their work. Our contract goes to June, 2026. The funds pay the wages for the two workers at the IMRRC.
Bob has 2 DVD players that he will be donating to the IMRRC to help with files that are in that format.
Roger Bean, the NASCAR sweepstakes winner, will be submitting an article on his experience in Charlotte, NC.
Bob made a motion to send 2 $500 gift cards to Joe and Rick at the IMRRC before the end of the year. Howard seconded the motion. Motion passed. Bob will handle getting those gift cards to Watkins Glen.
Regions/members wanting to make donations of material to the IMRRC was discussed.
Several ideas were brought up on the best way to handle physical items and what the IMRRC can actually use and what they already have. To be discussed at a later meeting.
Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, Nebraska will continue to have the 50th celebration of Solo Nationals on display through September, 2024. The new display will be in place starting October 2024. A Zoom call is scheduled for January to start that process of what the new display will be.
Women on Track
The committee has two new women involved with the leadership. Emily Brown and Kelsey Karanges will be taking over for Linda Duncan and Velma Boreen
The WOT presentation for the convention is being worked on by that committee.
Region Development Grants
Fourth quarter grants were reviewed and NEOhio received the grant request they submitted to host an all-program Competition Clinic at Nelson Ledges in the Spring of 2024.
VETMotorsports and Formula SAE
Raleigh met with Peter Cline at PRI regarding their program for 2024
They are refocusing their efforts for 2024 and Peter will be in touch as plans become final
Formula SAE has two competitions scheduled for 2024, with both of them taking place in Michigan at Michigan International Speedway
May is the internal combustion competition and that competition is already sold out
June is the electric competition and registration for that just opened up
FSAE has contact Rick Myers re: using the SCCA trailer for timing for both of the events.
Carroll Smith Award and trophy are already in the budget.
Old Business
Velma asked about the operations manual for the Foundation and how the committee is progressing on that venture. To be discussed after the first of the year.
Discussed getting everyone on the committee an SCCA Foundation email address. Working with SCCA IT to get this accomplished.
