April 2022 Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 8:02 PM Eastern Time
Motion to approve March meeting minutes was motioned by Tere, 2nd by Raleigh. Motion passed.
FINANCIAL REPORT
No new financial report from Jeff but working to get February out soon. The committee would like to see March and April as soon as those reports are available.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Thank you to Lyn Hodges Watts for her time spent as the BOD Liaison. Peter Schneider will be the BOD Liaison starting with the May meeting. Lyn enjoyed her time on the committee.
Loaner Helmet program
Offer has been made to Regions wanting to order helmets. Abby and Chris are working on this and have heard from several Regions. Abby has made contact with Region leaders on Facebook.
Region Development Grant Program
Requests from two different groups have come in to the SCCA Foundation requesting grants.
CenDiv requested help with their CenDiv Spring Training. Bob motioned that $1,500 be given to CenDiv to offset the cost/short come of that meeting. Tere seconded the motion. Discussion ensued. The motion was denied.
San Francisco Region requested help with their Tire Rack Street Survival School scheduled for June. Bob motioned to refuse San Francisco Region grant request. Arnie seconded the motion. Discussion ensued. No vote was taken. Arnie will reach out to San Francisco Region and give them an opportunity to present their need once again.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
The SCCA Foundation received $7,147.05 in March donations
The 2022 Sweepstakes discussion will be discussed at a later meeting
Legacy Giving Initiative update
Eric Anderson approached Jeff regarding how he could potentially help the SCCA Foundation with the Legacy Giving Initiative. This is his background and he is willing to donate his time. The idea is to get members to think about making “unusual” donations to the Foundation.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Jim has submitted the article to SportsCar for the March History Women On Track features that appeared on Facebook. Waiting to hear back from SportsCar.
Idea to highlight VETMotorsports and Formula SAE in SportsCar and on the SCCA Foundation website are in the works.
An interview with Eric Anderson would be a future topic.
TIRE RACK STREET SURVIVAL COMMITTEE
Schools are taking place
Continuing to work with the BMW/CCA Foundation
Online waivers may be an issue with the SCCA schools
ARCHIVES
IMRRC Annual Banquet on August 19th will have 4 SCCA Foundation members attend.
Bob, Jeff, Arnie and Donna, Raleigh and Velma
Will meet with the IMRRC staff prior to the banquet
Discussion about the items in 801 in Topeka
Will work to get a final answer to the car that is stored at 801. Would the owner be willing to donate it to raffle off.
Raleigh asked about the best way for Regions to get their Regional information to the IMRRC. The IMRRC prefers digital information and this is still being worked on. Stayed tuned for more information.
WOMEN ON TRACK
The March History Women On Track feature articles on Facebook were well received. Sydney Davis-Yagel will continue to post another feature every Wednesday. The Women On Track committees are continuing to add to the list of women so there will be a good group to feature every March.
The Wendi Allen Scholarship Fund winners for 2022 were announced. Discussion took place in regards to a letter of concern that was received by Jeff Jacobs. Jeff will investigate and will report back to the SCCA Foundation committee at the next meeting.
Road Racing Scholarship application was posted on the SCCA website. Applications are due by May 15th. Cherie Storms and her committee will be working on those scholarships, which are already in the budget for 2022.
VETMotorsports and FORMULA SAE
Decision was made by VETMotorsports to rent vehicles in the future for events, as many participants don’t drive a manual transmission.
Working on SCCA to provide two free entries for National Tours
Contract with VETMotorsports indicates that the first installment for 2022 is due in the 2nd quarter of the year. Raleigh motioned that the installment for $10,000 be paid now. Bob seconded the motion. Motion passed
Raleigh is working to get a reduced entry fee for VETMotorsports for Track Night in America. No vehicle will be provided – just a reduced entry fee.
FSAE
The Carroll Smith Mentor’s Cup will be given at the June Formula SAE competition at Michigan International Speedway.
A committee will be formed to continue with this award into the future. Raleigh will meet with two of the past recipients and get a process in place.
Clancy Schmitt with SCCA and Dr. Peter Jones from Auburn University will be at the June competition to present the award, along with the $1,500 check from the SCCA Foundation. Raleigh will touch base with Detroit Region and ask that they get some pictures taken to add to an article about the event for the SCCA Foundation website.
OLD BUSINESS
Bob will be going to Topeka in May to finalize what needs to be taken out of 801 storage and taken to the IMRRC. The plan is to get everything loaded up and out to Watkins Glen in August. Arnie will be available to help Bob
