PUBLISHED MINUTES

Invited: Jeff Dahnert (SCCCA, Finance), Peter Schneider (BOD Liaison), Velma Boreen (Minutes)

Meeting was called to order at 8:01 PM Eastern Time

Motion to approve the April minutes was motioned by Bob, 2nd by Jim. Motion passed, with the suggestion that minutes on the website be notated as “Published Minutes”.


FINANCIAL REPORT

  • New report sent to all members.

    • This includes all contributions, funds spent on various programs, member and non-member donations through March, 2022.

      • Expenses were higher this month because of program support paid out from the SCCA Foundation to Archives, VetMotorsports, LMS and others.

  • Donations continue to be good through monthly renewal add ons

    • Working on rounding online donations to be at least a dollar. This could be a software issue. Bob will touch base with Aimee when he is in Topeka next week.

  • Raleigh motioned to accept the financial report, seconded by Carla. Motion passed.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Welcome to Peter Schneider as the BOD Liaison. 

Loaner Helmet program

  • 204 helmets will be available

  • No limit on how many a Region can order until the inventory is gone

  • Target is for Solo programs but they can also be used for Track Night in America

  • Regions will order through the merchandise program

  • Need to let Regions know of the availability of the helmets

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

  • April 2022 Donations Report

    • Strong going into the second quarter

    • 1¢ donations may be a part of the Motorsports Reg format

  • Sweepstakes are still being worked on with an outreach to both IMSA and ACCUS/FIA

    • Mike Cobb is working with ACCUS for Formula 1 tickets

      • ACCUS wants the sweepstakes to be available to SCCA members only. May need to request membership number of the entry form if supported.

  • Legacy Giving Initiative

    • Continue working with Eric Anderson on how to start building this program for SCCA members.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

  • Website

    • Things going well with both the website and SportsCar articles

  • Discussed Solo Nationals in Lincoln this coming September

    • Test and Tune Course and Nebraska Region’s annual donation

    • Make announcers aware of the part that the SCCA Foundation plays with the club

    • Consider Free tire cleaning to any competition vehicle with the SCCA Foundation sticker on their car

TIRE RACK STREET SURVIVAL COMMITTEE

  • Carla working with Heyward Wagner on a job description for Ryan Cheek

    • Waiting for staff approval on the hire of Ryan

  • The number of SCCA schools are down a bit so far this year

  • BMW asked if SCCA has insurance against sexual harassment because a college where they were looking to host an event required such a clause.

    • SCCA does have a Code of Conduct in all Rulebooks

ARCHIVES

  • August 19th is the banquet at the IMRRC in Watkins Glen

    • A meeting with the IMRRC officials has been requested for either Wednesday afternoon or Saturday morning

    • Announcement on the 2022 recipient will be made shortly

    • Banquet is at the Harbor Inn Hotel

  • Information needs to be passed along to Regional Executives and newsletter Editors that the IMRRC would like electronic mailings of newsletters

  • No current information on estates’ collections that Bob is working on

  • Discussed that the mystery “Car” at 801 is probably not salvageable for the Foundation fundraising purposes.

WOMEN ON TRACK

  • The Wendy Allen Scholarship Fund committee

    • Jeff will be having conversations with that committee

    • We’ve received requests to improve the transparency of the program

    • Members have expressed concern that nominations are not acknowledged or information share on how the process works

    • Discussed how to improve Acknowledgement of WASF winners at any of the National events that they attend

VETMotorsports and FORMULA SAE

  • Veterans are scheduled at the next four National Tour events plus the CAM Challenge in August at Grissom

    • Many are unable to drive a manual transmission so they have started renting cars for the veterans with automatics

  • The second quarter funds were sent to VETMotorsports

  • Formula SAE

    • May event is taking place the weekend of May 19-21 at Michigan International Speedway

    • The Carroll Smith Award will be given at the event in June

    • A committee is working on documenting how choices are made in the future

    • Jim W. requested that a list of past Carroll Smith winners be sent to him for posting on the SCCA Foundation website

  • Discussion of the school that James Rogerson is involved with took place. Suggestion will be made to him that he put together a proposal to submit to the Foundation, but he also needs a clear relationship of some kind with the SCCA.

OLD BUSINESS

  • The Howard Duncan ProSolo Green Light program

    • Post event written article should include information on the recipients of the HDPSGL Award at each of the ProSolo events

NEW BUSINESS

  • There was no new business
