Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 7:06 PM Eastern Time.

A motion was made by Jim, seconded by Tere to approve the July meeting minutes. Motion passed. The minutes for July will be forwarded to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.


FINANCIAL REPORT - Justin Hawkins

Donations continue to be good.

$5000 paid to marketing for the sweepstakes

TRSS and WOT income will be indicated on the statement next month, which includes sale of the Spec Boxster.

IMRRC banquet invoice paid.

Question raised about the second half of the year for the IMRRC payment. Justin will check on that invoice.

Second half of the year for the LMS contribution has been paid

Justin working on a format change for the financial report. Will be ready for the September meeting. Will make it easier to compare expenses with the annual budget.

Sweepstakes billing is monthly. Prize will be paid after trip has been claimed. Sweepstakes for second Monaco trip has been very successful in the first two weeks.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Tire Rack Street Survival - Melanie and Howard   

25 schools are scheduled so far for 2025

  • May change due to additions or cancellations.  St. Louis cancelled their school, however the BMW club took it over for them.

14 schools have been completed

Melanie will be stepping down at the end of 2025.

Executive Committee - Jeff and Arnie

Operations Manual

  • Clay briefed the group on recent updates from the Inc. Board.

    • Many questions/concerns were raised by member of the SCCA Foundation board.

    • This is still a working document.

    • Currently the plan is to have a finalized version by the National Convention in January.

Fundraising Committee - Jeff and Arnie

Donations report was at $5,500

Sweepstakes for the next Monaco trip are at $21,000.

Communications - Jim

Archives - Bob

The Cameron Argetsinger Awards banquet is scheduled to take place on September 4, 2025.

Bob and Jim will be attending the dinner and also meeting with the staff from the IMRRC.

Women on Track - Tere

SCCA Women on Track Road Racing Awards collaboration with Women In Motorsports North America

  • Driver Achievement – suggested Lyn St. James Award for Driver Achievement presented by WoT and WINMA.

    • Performance based award focusing on top 5-10 drivers by class in National points/RunOff finish.

    • Importance of candidates fastest lap compared to fastest overall lap for class

    • WoT Road Racing committee to compile and review data.

  • Mentorship – current suggested name would be the SCCA Women on Track Mentor of the Year, potentially to be renamed at a later date.

    • Limited to those involved with Road Racing (driver, volunteer, owner, coach, crew)

    • SCCA membership to nominate candidates in a similar process to mechanic/worker of the year.

  • SCCA WoT to fund the physical award and travel to WIMNA Women with Drive Summit for winners.  Travel allowance of $750.00 per award.  Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.

  • WIMNA to cover registration fee for winners to attend WWD Summit.

  • SCCA WoT and WIMNA to confirm award parameters.

  • SCCA WoT to narrow own each award to 5 candidates and provide profiles and data to WIMNA.

  • WIMNA to establish an awards committee with one member of the SCCA WoT Executive Committee to select winners.

  • Names of winners will be added to perpetual awards and recipients will be given a keeper award to commemorate.

  • Proposed Timeline

    • October 1 – Awards collaboration announcement at RunOffs via social

    • October 7 – Awards collaboration announcement on website

    • October 7 – Nominations open for Mentor of the Year

    • October 15 – SCCA WoT RR committee begins identifying candidates for Driver Achievement5 Award

    • October 27 – Mentor of the Year nominations close

    • October 29 – Driver Achievement nominees finalized

    • November 5 – Mentor of the Year nominees finalized

    • November 6 – SCCA WoT Executive committee approves nominees

    • November 7 – SCCA Executive team approves nominees

    • November 8 – Nominees sent to WIMNA

    • No later than November 20 – Winners invited to attend the summit

    • December 10 – Awards presented at WWD

      • Footage of presentation taken to be shared with SCCA

    • January 2026 – Footage of presentation shared during the National Convention

  • Motion made by Howard, seconded by Tere, to approve the WIMNA plan presented by Tere for the Women on Track Executive Committee.  Discussion regarding our obligation in the future and presenting the award each year took place.  Motion passed.

Region Development Grants - Arnie

Work continues on how to proceed with the grant program.  Should have an answer in September.

VETMotorsports / Formula SAE / Museum of Ameican Speed, Lincoln – Raleigh

VETMotorsports
WDCR has announced a charity event for VETMotorsports around Veterans Day. Raleigh will be in contact with WDCR and the Helmets for Heroes program.

FSAE
The meeting in Lincoln has over 350 students signed up. SCCA and the Foundation are sponsoring the reception on that Saturday evening.

Raleigh will have a presentation at the meeting on how the experience with SAE will affect the students’ future endeavors in life and their careers. He will also talk about how SCCA can do the same thing for them as they begin their careers with these life lessons.

Museum of American Speed in Lincoln

The SCCA display at the Museum of American Speed looks great.  Continue to have positive comments from visitors.

A meeting is scheduled at the Museum during Solo Nationals with Mike Cobb, Clay Turner, Howard Duncan, Mark Weber, Raleigh and museum staff. The MAS continues to express their interest at housing the SCCA Hall of Fame at their facility. This meeting will give those who have not seen what has been currently done with other Hall of Fames the opportunity to see that kiosk.
