Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 7:02 PM Eastern Time.

A motion was made by Bob, seconded by Raleigh to approve the August meeting minutes. Motion passed.  Velma will forward the minutes for August to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.


FINANCIAL REPORT - Justin Hawkins

Financial report was presented in the new format

Donations continue to be good

Restricted, unrestricted funds and budget were discussed

$10,000 expenses for launch of the current sweepstakes

Invoice paid to the IMRRC

Potential of changing Learning Management System to SCCA Academy. This is a BOD request.

Motion made by Howard, seconded by Bob to approved the financial report. Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Tire Rack Street Survival - Melanie and Howard   

Schedule for schools being worked on:

  • 24 schools are scheduled so far for 2025

  • 18 schools have been completed

  • Des Moines cancelled 10-5-25 school – not enough students

    • What needs to be done to get more Regions to host schools and fill the schools up was discussed.  2023-24 saw good growth but 2025 is falling behind. Much discussion around what can be done to give the Street Survival program a boost.

BMW contract with Tire Rack will be in negotiation before the end of 2025.

Monthly 30 minutes calls are scheduled going forward

Weekly email updates on TRSS will be starting again

Executive Committee - Jeff and Arnie

Operations Manual

  • Clay brought the board up to date on the SCCA Foundation Reorganization.

    • Concerns were raised regarding what can and should be done. What is the timetable? Role and functions of members and programs discussed. It has been agreed that there is a need for potential change but still more questions than answers.

  • The Regional Development Grant program has taken care of the Regions that qualified for the first and second quarters of 2025. Program continues to be on hold.

Fundraising Committee - Jeff and Arnie

Donations report for August was reviewed

The launch for the next Monaco trip has been very successful. We will continue to send emails about the sweepstakes and also flash sales.

  • Raleigh has obtained a painting of Monaco in 1958 done by a friend of his who specializes in racing art.  That will potentially be one of the flash prizes or potentially given to the person who wins the sweepstakes. Jeff asked that Raleigh get some information about Gary Dausch, the artist, and also a photo of the painting to include in future information about the sweepstakes.

Communications - Jim

Article submitted to SCCA, Inc., the Foundation website and Facebook re: Brian Redman legacy relating to Foundation’s mission.

Charity Navigator rating on hold. Need direction/approval for Foundation to submit standard IRS Form 990.

Met with Clay and Rachel to review the Foundation website development and future opportunities.

Future/Pending

  • Foundation Vision marketing communication support plan will be developed with Clay

  • Met with IMRRC Head Archivist, Joe Schill, regarding access to IMRRC digital files and history to support Legacy Stories. IMRRC is 21-3 years away from digitizing files.

Archives - Bob

IMRRC/Cameron Argetsinger Awards week

  • Met with Margaret Lawrence, interim Executive Director; Joe Schill, Chief Archivist to discuss status of progress on the SCCA material, in particular the digitizing of SCCA material; Duke Argetsinger, Archives Research coordinator, Kip Zeiter, Visitor and Outreach Services Coordinator, Bill Green, Media administrator.  Meetings were very positive.

  • Met with Joe and Rick, the SCCA Archive Technicians at the warehouse. Expect to be finished with all driver’s files by the end of 2025. Next programs to be worked on are Solo, membership, Pro Racing.  Projected to be finished with these by the end of 2027. This does not include any new material they may receive.

  • Jim and Bob met with John Saunders, the IMRRC BoD Chairman. Update on new building status was discussed. Campaign kick-off will be sometime in 2026. Campaign goal is $25 Million, which will be for construction but also for five-year operational expenses. Plan is to have building completed by 2030.

  • Cameron Argetsinger banquet was held on Thursday, September 4th, with Brian Redman receiving the award. David Hobbs and Bob Varsha were there as emcees.

  • There are several boxes that Bob will be transporting to Watkins Glen in 2026.

Women on Track - Tere

The Women on Track Committee had a brunch at Solo Nationals on Monday, September 1st. Approximately 130 women were in attendance. Door prizes were donated by several vendors and were greatly appreciated.

VETMotorsports / Formula SAE / Museum of Ameican Speed, Lincoln – Raleigh

VETMotorsports
Working on a better way of reimbursing the people involved with VETMotorsports.

FSAE
FSAE has finalized the plans for the meeting in October. Andrew Benaugh from the SCCA office will also be in attendance to represent SCCA. The workshop is October 11-12 in Lincoln, Ne.

Museum of American Speed in Lincoln

The meeting at the MAS during Solo Nationals was very positive. In attendance were Mike Cobb, Clay Turner, Mark Weber, Bob Crawford, Raleigh Boreen and Howard Duncan. They are looking forward to working with SCCA. The SCCA display and other promotional items were discussed, in addition to the potential of having the SCCA Hall of Fame located at the museum.

Old Business - none

New Business

Budget plans will be discussed during the October meeting.

Discussion took place regarding a Solo award being instituted in Tom Berry’s name. Many ideas were presented. Details are being worked out.
