Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 6:59 PM Eastern Time.
A motion was made by Bob, seconded by Tere to approve the October meeting minutes. Motion passed. The minutes for October will be forwarded to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.
FINANCIAL REPORT - Jeff Dahnert
October financials were sent to committee members for their review.
Sweepstake ticket sales continue to do well.
Sweepstakes will close on November 30th.
Second half of 2024 payment for LMS is due.
Statement from the estate of Tim Meddaugh funds to the Glen Region and the SCCA Foundation are expected to be taken care of before the end of the year.
The question was raised about the Museum of American Speed and the expenses involved with that project.
Because these will not be a yearly expense, they will have a category by themselves and not rolled into the Archives expenses.
Motion was made by Raleigh, seconded by Bob to approve the financial statement. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Tire Rack Street Survival - Melanie and Howard
Three schools are scheduled for the rest of 2024.
Twenty-nine schools have been completed since the beginning of 2024.
One school is scheduled for January 2025
Payments to Regions are happening in a timelier manner
Still need to work with BMW to verify if they will be handling the distribution of shirts, etc. to the Regions hosting schools.
Howard and Melanie will be working on the Street Survival presentation for the 2025 National Convention.
Hawai’i Region and Oregon Region will be a part of that presentation as they have held multiple schools this year and have had great success.
Melanie is continuing to work on an event kit with Kristen.
Executive Committee
Weekly calls with Jeff, Arnie and Kristen continue.
Donor Email Initiative for November will feature the SCCA Archives.
§ This email has been a good way to stay in contact with members
2025 budget is in the works and will be circulated in advance of the December meeting.
Fundraising Committee
Jeff shared the donations report for October.
Monaco GP Sweepstakes has had great success so far.
Vendor is working on our next sweepstakes to perhaps start in January.
Spec Boxster has been donated to the SCCA Foundation.
Car is in Southern California. Jeff has asked Tom Berry to arrange for pick up and storage. Decision will be made later on best way to handle this donation.
Communications
Video from Solo Nationals and the Dunk Tank that Jay Bullington had in his paddock area has gotten good comments.
Donations from that activity went to the Women on Track program and also the general fund for the Foundation.
Articles on LMS and Women on Track in the works for the next couple of months.
Archives
Zoom call set up for 11-27-24 with the IMRRC and Tony Parella to discuss the TransAm project.
Digitizing the media tapes that are at the IMRRC
Creating a Trans Am Hall of Fame
Mike Cobb reminded Bob that the TransAm is the property of SCCA, Inc. Need to make sure that the TransAm trademark is protected. Bob will update after the Zoom call.
Conversation continues with Joe Schilling and the rest of the IMRRC staff
Worked with Raleigh and Howard in delivering cars to the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln for the next display. This display will be in place 2025-2026.
Communication continues with Regions wanting information on how to get their information to the IMRRC.
Women on Track
The Women on Track community lost a valuable member of the committee. Jennifer Schwartzott passed away after several health issues.
Solo
Two Wendi Allen Scholarship and one Mazda-funded scholarship were awarded in 2024.
At 23 events, a no-cost driver development scholarship was awarded to provide a randomly-selected female driver with coaching throughout an event.
At 25 events, a no-cost mentorship program was in place. This gave personal one-on-one assistance to those who requested a mentor.
Pay it Forward certificates were issued to first-time competitors. These can be used at either a National Tour or ProSolo.
The Solo committee hosted 125 women at the Monday Brunch at Solo nationals, complete with giveaways, food and the opportunity to meet new competitors.
Road Racing
Two women were awarded $1,000 to attend a driver’s school. Olivia Hammac and Reagan Thomas were the recipients of these two scholarships. They both got their Novice permits.
One woman received a $500 scholarship to attend Runoffs for the first time. Shelby Robbins was the recipient and was also awarded Worker of the Year honors for her work throughout the year in scrutineering.
Members of the Road Racing and Volunteer committees hosted a stop on the Block Party at the Runoffs. Snacks and giveaways and the chance to talk with visitors about growing female participation.
Time Trials
Two women were awarded $500 scholarships to attend a Trime Trials National Tour event. Cindy Duncan and Shellie McKee were the recipients. Both women have been involved in other SCCA programs both Regionally and Nationally.
One woman received the $1,000 scholarship to attend Time Trials Nationals. Jodie Boy was the recipient.
All three women were grateful for this financial support and the ability to attend these events.
WoT trophies are now part of the Time Trial Nationals trophies and no longer require WoT involvement.
The WoT committee hosted a social the first event of Time Trials to build community for women within the Time Trials program.
RallyCross
A new committee was formed earlier in the year.
Two $500 scholarships were awarded to attend RallyCross nationals. Due to health issues, only one was able to participate.
A small morning gathering for those in attendance took place.
Road Rally
Two $500 scholarships were awarded to attend. Due to health issues, only one was able to participate.
The WoT executive committee will continue to administer this program and are continuing to actively pursue a program chair.
Region Development Grants
Four grant applications have been received
Three are from Regions, with one being filled out completely and accurately. One is from a non-SCCA Region.
Committee will be meeting on 12-9 to finalize the fourth quarter recipient(s).
Abby has been holding Zoom calls to answer questions for Regions that may be looking at submitting a grant request. Attendance has been low but those in attendance have had good questions.
VETMotorsports / Formula SAE / Museum of American Speed, Lincoln
VETMotorsports
Peter Cline with VETMotorsports has reported that $8,300 was spent in 2024 for SCCA events and SCCA memberships.
Track Night in America drew the largest number of veterans, with Solo being second.
Consensus is the time commitment for TNiA vs. Solo.
Raleigh made a motion to reimburse VETMotorsports for the $8,300 they spent in 2024. Tere seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Raleigh will be meeting with Peter at PRI in Indianapolis in December to discuss plans for 2025 for the program.
Proposed budget for 2025 is $10,000.
FSAE
Discussion has taken place with the SAE personnel to put a plan together on what can be done to give the SCCA and the SCCA Foundation a larger role in the FSAE events and associated activities.
Workshops have taken place in the past.
Engage local SCCA Regions to help local FSAE teams and make participating in local Solos easier for them.
Budgets for these two programs would be $5,000 - $10,000.
Continue with the Mentor Award for $1,000.
Museum of America Speed in Lincoln
Cars for the next display at the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln have been delivered.
Vehicles from the previous display have been returned to their rightful owners. Expenses are being finalized.
People who have had their vehicles on display in the past and the new vehicles have all been sent thank you letters.
The people with the new display will also be receiving a complimentary two-year membership to the Museum of American Speed.
The new display on SCCA, The Runoffs and Road Racing in America will be ready for viewing in December of 2024. This display will be in place for 24 months.
A video on the display will be available so that is can be used during the SCCA virtual convention in 2025. Working with Mike Cobb on this presentation.
There is not need for the Museum of American Speed to have a line item in the 2025 budget, as this new display will be in place through 2026.
