Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 7:58 PM Eastern Time.
A motion was made by Raleigh, seconded by Jim to approve the August meeting minutes, with the following additions/corrections. Added that Bob Eddy was present at the August meeting. Corrected the spelling on Joe Schilling’s last name. Motion passed. The minutes for August will be forwarded to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.
FINANCIAL REPORT - Jeff Dahnert
August financials were sent to committee members for their review
Sweepstakes continue to do well.
Payment from TapKat is submitted to SCCA weekly
Second half of 2024 payment for LMS is due.
The budgeted $25,000 will be applied to that program.
The number of members participating in the LMS program is very good.
1448 “orders” from members
1122 complete
Safety Steward program continues to grow
Will verify with Chris Robbins if this dollar amount each year will continue to be sufficient or will LMS need additional funds in the future.
Motion was made by Howard, seconded by Bob to approve the financial statement.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Tire Rack Street Survival - Melanie and Howard
Seven schools were held/are being held in September
Seventeen schools have been completed in the first 8 month of 2024.
Seven schools are scheduled for the rest of 2024.
Northwest Region’s school on 10-13 will be rescheduled in January 2025.
Thirty-three projected SCCA hosted schools in 2024.
A meeting with BMW needs to be scheduled to determine who and how supplies for the schools in the future will be handled. The material that is currently at SCCA is at least two iterations old. We need to get better understanding of our relationship with BMW.
Executive Committee
The Foundation display at Solo Nationals was good.
The wind in Lincoln is always an issue so the 10x10 tent was only open on one side. The display was a hit – very well designed.
Contributions to the SCCA Foundation at Solo Nationals was very good.
Tire Cleaning - $1535.60
Practice Course (Nebraska Region) - $8500.00
Dunk Tank (Jay Bullington/JXB Performance) - $2017.50 with an additional $2017.50 for the Women On Track program that Arnie needs to confirm yet.
Mike Cobb brought two visitors to meet Arnie
George Silbermann with ACCUS and Michael Good with PRI.
The display at the Runoffs will be in a 10x20 tent on vendor row.
Arnie will staff the tent Monday/Tuesday through Sunday.
Monaco Grand Prix Sweepstakes tickets were sold.
Weekly calls with Kristen Poole continue.
September Donor e-mail is ready for distribution.
September newsletter will feature WOT.
October newsletter will feature SCCA Archives.
Fundraising Committee
Jeff shared the donations report for August.
Number of people donating to the Foundation is still very good and MAP is a great way to get to the members.
Request was made to acknowledge Jay Bullington/JXB in Jim Weidenbaum’s next article.
Personal note will be sent to Wanda and Stephen Brinkerhoff with Indy Region and thank them for handling the tire cleaning area at Solo Nationals. Velma will follow up with that thank you.
Monaco GP Sweepstakes has had great success so far.
Marketing efforts are continuing. Sweepstakes closes November 30th.
There are still a few promos and flash prizes scheduled for the sweepstakes. Jeff and Kristen will continue to work on those promos.
Map of Monaco was taken to Solo Nationals and will also be at the Runoffs.
Other items to be given away during promos include a Yeti cooler, coasters and an F1 poster.
Communications
Linda Santangelo will no longer be actively supporting Legacy Stories due to her additional responsibilities with NNJ and Northeast Division.
Future articles will include the vision of the Foundation’s future; where sweepstakes and unrestricted membership giving will be directed.
Building fund for the IMRRC in Watkins Glen
Supporting the rotating SCCA exhibit in Lincoln at Museum of American Speed.
Archives
Bob delivered several items to the IMRRC from various Regions, including a DVD player and assorted cables.
Met with the IMRRC staff for updates
Met with Joe and Rick
Driver files will be completed by the end of the year.
Membership files and Solo will be next. They anticipate completing that by the end of 2025.
Discussed additional supplies that may be needed so that those funds can be part of the 2025 budget. As always, more space is needed.
Met with Joe Schilling, the new archivist.
Duke Argetsinger will continue to help with this transition.
Met with Mark Steigerwald, Joe and John Saunders (IMRRC Chairman of BoD)
Discussed the timetable of the new building and kick-off campaign, hopefully late spring/early summer of 2025.
Building will be a two-story building with 30,000 square feet. Possibility of adding an additional 3rd floor.
SCCA will be able to provide input in the building layout.
Discussion regarding the 2025 SCCA National Convention took place.
The archives will be part of this presentation.
Discussed the possibility of a symposium with the IMRRC and the SCCA Foundation.
Materials from Virginia will be delivered to the IMRRC the weekend of September 20th and unloaded on September 21st.
IMRRC has completed sorting, categorizing, labeling and filing the media tapes concerning the Trans-Am series delivered in 2023.
57 man hours – 668 videos covering Trans-Am – 47 archive boxes.
There are still additional items to inspect from other race events.
Tony Pirella has proposed a Trans-Am Hall of Fame be set up at the IMRRC.
Several items/questions need to be answered.
A letter will be sent to the SCCA Board of Directors to discuss at their next meeting in October.
Bob will be the liaison between Tony, IMRRC and SCCA, Inc., with Mike Cobb and Eric Prill aware of this relationship.
Women on Track
The Women On Track committees continue with their monthly Zoom calls
The Women On Track brunch at Solo Nationals was a huge success.
Several companies donated door prizes, including a set of tires.
T-shirts were available to all who attended
RallyCross has 10 applications for joining the committee. They are discussing the possibility of having 2 sub-committees for National events and Regional events.
Time Trials continue to work on Time Trial Nationals and a social at that event
Volunteers committee will be meeting before the Runoffs but may need some help during that event.
A request was made by Arnie to have more transparency of what the Women On Track program is planning and may be requesting funds for in the future.
Region Development Grants
Three grant requests have been submitted for the third quarter
The grants were not complete so no grants will be given for the third quarter.
VETMotorsports / Formula SAE / Museum of American Speed, Lincoln

No changes since last month. No requests for help or funding.

Michigan International Speedway, IC Only, 120 registered/30 waitlist
June 10-14, 2025 (tentative)
Michigan International Speedway, EV Only, 100 registered/30 waitlist, event dates increased by one full day
Formula Hybrid and Electric
April 28 – May 1, 2025
New Hampshire Motor Speedway, EV and Hybrid, 35 registered/15 waitlist
SCCA Trailer will be taken to the SAE events in Michigan.
Should the SCCA Foundation sponsor the autocross portion of these competitions?
Museum of America Speed in Lincoln
Dates are being finalized for delivering the next set of vehicles to MAS.
The tentative plan is to deliver them by the end of October.
The IMRRC is helping with videos and pictures.
The new display on SCCA, The Runoffs and Road Racing in America will be ready for viewing in December of 2024. This display will be in place for 24 months.
A video on the display will be available so that is can be used during the SCCA virtual convention in 2025.
One of the Solo vehicles that has been on display since Spring 2023 has been donated to MAS. The other three vehicles will be coming out in October.
